Welcome to the Torbay Council Budget Simulator

The Government has outlined plans for public service funding cuts and Torbay is facing a potential 25% cut in funding over the next four years. In addition to this there is also a commitment to freeze council tax.

We will not find out what Torbay’s budget settlement for 2011/12 until after Spending Review in the autumn but we expect to have to make savings of 10% for 2011/12.

This simulator allows you to find out how the council budget was spent and how much different areas of the council cost. You can then decide how you would allocate the money across the departments.

Don’t forget that the council needs to cut a significant proportion of its spending, so we are asking you to find 10% (approx. £13.5million) savings as a minimum and we can’t put council tax up. Projected saving have been taken into account giving a starting point based on last years budget. Please submit your proposals to achieve the saving requirted

Once you've completed your allocations your results will be submitted to Torbay Council who will then put everyone's opinions together and use them to inform their budget and spending priorities for the year.

Thanks very much
